Faculty-led programs are the most popular way for Adelphi students to study abroad. For academic year 2014/15, 72 percent of all study abroad students at Adelphi (153 students) participated in faculty-led programs and this number is projected to grow.

The ideal faculty-led program not only offers students an international experience, but fosters in-depth exploration of an academic topic with an expert in the field. Faculty leaders should have intimate knowledge of the destination that boosts the academic components of the course and facilitates unique access to local sites and culture. The Center for International Education (CIE) is especially seeking programs with staying power that will become permanent courses. The Faculty-led Study Abroad Committee with representatives from faculty, Center for International Education, Office of the Treasurer and the Office of Academic Affairs will review all programs based on following criteria:
