Study Abroad at Adelphi

Study Abroad at Adelphi

The Center for International Education (CIE) administers programs that work toward establishing Adelphi University as a leader in international awareness and activity.

Studying abroad provides a unique opportunity for Adelphi students to gain cross-cultural skills, expand their global perspective, develop independence and self-reliance, enhance their language proficiency, and foster personal growth and confidence.

Our Goals

  • Provide students with global competencies in order for them to be able to succeed, take leadership positions, and be agents of change in today’s complex and interdependent world, through study abroad, experiential education, and international internships
  • Develop and maintain effective cooperation and exchange partnerships with selected institutions worldwide
  • Encourage curriculum internationalization and international diversity on campus
  • Foster international development, exchange, and overseas teaching opportunities to faculty and administrators

Not only did I have fun, I expanded my horizons, I learned so much, I made so many new friends and I know my life has changed. I hope we can continue to grow and learn and spread kindness!

Gain Global Insights in Less Time with Faculty-led Programs

Faculty-led study abroad programs are short-term programs and an excellent way to earn Adelphi credit and study a special topic with an Adelphi professor in a new cultural context.

In the above video, enthusiastic Adelphi students who took a 1-credit service-learning course in Kenya talk about being engaged with children at the Caroline Home—an orphanage and school founded by Anne Mungai, Adelphi’s associate provost for strategic initiatives and graduate studies.

Expand Your Classroom to the World: Exploring Italy with CEHS

Xiao-lei Wang, PhD, the dean of Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences (CEHS), guided a team of Adelphi pupils on an excursion to Italy. In the video “Following in the Footsteps of Educational Thinkers,” Dr. Wang stated that the College has a philosophy of “expanding the classroom to the world.” During the journey, CEHS students visited various destinations, including Rome, Pompeii, Florence, Pisa, and Venice.
